Manitoba restaurants can’t find enough staff to fill openings

I totally understand the argument of pay more. But food for thought ( pun intended )...

500 a week is 12.50 per hour. Lets say a persons regular hours in a week are 35 instead of 40, that brings the "500 a week" to more like 14.50 per hour. In certain cases, people collecting CERB had regular work weeks of 5x6hrs for 30 hours a week meaning the 500 a week is equal to $16.50

Even if they offered 15.50 per hour - for 1 dollar more an hour ( based on a previous 35 hour week ) you take on a lot of responsibility. Technically you can sleep in, go to the beach whenever you want, play video games all day, stay home with your kids etc... or for 1 more dollar an hour, go punch in and punch out.

We also have to consider the time spent travelling, and the money saved on Gas from not working as well, or child care costs.

Again, if your regular scheduled shifts prior to COVID was 35 hours a week, CERB would be equal to 14.50 per hour..... Heck even at 16 per hour job opening... Would you maybe rather just take the Summer off with no work responsibility or take on the day to day responsibilities of a job to earn $1.50 more an hour.

Maybe this is a good thing, and bottom line wages will increase, but to think CERB is not a problem in some of these situations is just blind.
