Marine Le Pen walks out of meeting with Lebanon's Grand Mufti after refusing to wear headscarf

The first statement is not hypocritical, and the second one is not ridiculous.

Knowing the value system of a nation beforehand and choosing to live there anyway means that you agree to live by those standards or you accept the punishment for not. She is doing her job, representing her nation (and women) and meeting with another nation. She has a reasonable expectation to me met as an equal. She is not obligated to accept the implied assertion that women are inferior to men and in fact most would say she is obligated not to.

The hijab can definitely be seen as a moral evil. At it's very core it is sexist, and an act of submission toward men (I'm sure towards Allah as well, but Le Pen isn't muslim, why should she submit?) Why aren't men required to wear the same attire? Whatever reason you could possibly give, at the heart of that reason lies sexism. If a man had met with him he would not be required to wear any such garments. Hijabs, Burkas, Niqabs are all admissions of inferiority at their core are admissions and acceptance of inferiority.

A moral evil is an apt description.
