Mental illness disproves the existence of a benevolent or omnipotent God

Other's have already done a pretty thorough job answering this "why do bad things happen to good people," so I don't feel the need to reiterate. What I will ask is: if you don't believe in a God, why have you come to a theology forum? From my perspective there are two real options: 1) you're here because you do believe in God and you're seeking clarification on a theological point you don't understand or 2) you don't believe in God and you're here to evangelize on behalf of someone or something else.

Why are you here? What understanding are you seeking to gain and are you actually interested in taking the advice or knowledge people are giving you? Or are you here to stir the pot?
