Microsoft: Official Support Thread

I use my Outlook address as the central email address for my Microsoft account and it's never given me any problems, but I just recently ended up in a situation with the alternate email address I have listed in my security settings, should I ever need to recover my account. Earlier this week I had to change my alternate email address because for years it had been my mom's Centurylink address, and she just cancelled her service with Centurylink a couple days ago, meaning the associated email address will most likely be deleted by the end of this week. So I went into my security settings and elected to change the alternate email address to my personal Gmail, to which I got a message saying my security info would be switched over after 30 days and I wouldn't have access to certain areas of my account until then. The 30 day waiting period isn't at all a problem for me, but I just want to make sure I won't need access to my mom's Centurylink email address for any other reason going forward. There isn't any reason I'll need to access it at the end of the 30 day waiting period, is there? Because it'll probably be long since deleted by then. So that's just what I want clarity on. I want to make sure that now that I've started the process of switching my alternate email address from my mom's Centurylink to my own personal Gmail, that the imminent deletion of the Centurylink address won't affect my ability to access my Microsoft account going forward. So if anyone could confirm this for me, that would be wonderful! Thanks!
