Morrowind and the Modern Era

Fans of Morrowind who, like me, played this game since it was released, cherish it as it is, with all of it's flaws. And many fans, old and new ones, did already a great job creating mods that either fix some of those minor flaws and expanding the already rich ingame spectrum of details, items etc. They refresh the world of Morrowind, which is very needed when you play the game for 13 years, but never change it and separate it from it's roots, which is even more important.

As for combat system, we already had so many discussions. I belong to the minority of people who actualy have no problem with it. Yes, when I played it for the first time, my nord barbarian got killed by rats in his first Fighters Guild mission, swinging his two handed axe through them. But soon after I figured out how to create a character that will be skilled enough to survive those first few levels when you feel like a mosquito bite can kill you. It's an rpg, not hack'n'slash. Your sklls progress and in no time, if you know what to do, will you have problems fighting the enemies. As some have suggested, maybe adding some animations for enemies in combat would be nice, but I have good enough imagination not to be bothered by such minor details. So yeah, there are mods that alter this game more than enough to stick with it as I have said, for 13 years and counting. But turning Morrowind into another watered down hack'n'slash Skyrim version is just a blasphemy. Does bringing the game into a modern day means that it has to be simplified for kids born after 2000s who, according to their online comments I've seen on many Morrowind videos, complain how they can't fast travel and actualy have to think for themselves and read to finish quests? They just want a compas mark to tell them where to go, so they can slash another enemy and watch superior modern graphics. This is why modern gaming lost the quality it had over 10 years ago and why everoyne today complains about games such as morrowind and want to simplify it. ESO is just a final nail in the coffin for TES series.
