I'm so sorry and it hits close to me as well. My friend seems to just go along and I would describe him similarly. He refuses to see anything narritivly and plays it like a paranoid video game. Like, worried I'll take someone from his backstory and use it to compel him for anything. So he has no 1 and cares for no 1 except his people. And the first mission, kobold overtook a mountain dwarf mining facility....0 bites and even tried to argue to another priest why he should be compensated more...I wanted to KMS.

And I think I solved the problem in all honesty.

After seeing him skip dnd after oversleeping a 5pm start, I stopped going out of my way to invite him. I wouldn't ask twice and wont change the schedule. If he comes, hes welcome.

He overslept that day because he was playing Divinity 2 all night....a game that is as close to Dnd as possible. I wanted to drag him out of bed by his hair.

He might be treating you like he treats us, as a gaming simulator and nothing more. A lot of groups have people who regularly go through the motions, dont let them bring you down!!

I feel this could be it's own rant thread so I'll stop Haha.
