These photos were taken during 16 days driving through South Africa and Swaziland. In the middle of it we went to Namibia for 12 days, but I have kept that out of the gallery and the costs overview below. I posted a separate trip report for Namibia here earlier.
I'll be happy to provide more information if you request it. Below you will find a preemptive strike on my behalf, covering our route and all costs.
If you want an even fuller trip report (100 photos), please see http://bjornfree.com/safi/
At about 70 USD per day, I think this trip was great value for money. We had full freedom to go anywhere we wanted, and we did. The costs could be brought down a lot by camping instead of using hotels/cottages, but we were able to find proper beds within our price range every night.

Note that all costs are for two people combined. Accommodations were all double rooms with bathroom, mostly nice ones. We booked nothing ahead, just found a place to stay when or just before it got dark. Could have been a lot cheaper with some planning.
Altogether: 16 nights for 10,702 rand (770 USD, 705 Euro)

Eating:
Our food was pretty evenly split between stocking up at supermarkets and eating out.
