The myth of the “Real JavaScript Developer” (Video at the end)

"You could be trolling but there's no need to insult the speaker. She's talking about creating a positive work life balance where coding isn't a be all end all."

There absolutely is valid reason to insult the speaker. Are you kidding me? She said outrageous thing after outrageous thing over and over to an audience of people and for thousands to watch over the internet who are gonna be influenced by what she said and it was TERRIBLE advice.

You can have it so in general, programming for you isn't a "be all end all" and still comprehend that you don't deserve equal treatment.

"To me it sounds like she's not ready or willing to tackle that complexity but I'm okay with that. That's her choice. I see this as a positive for devs who actually want to learn these new complex skills because there are high paying jobs and rewarding careers available to us."

Did you watch the video? She is saying the opposite. She is making it like it is bad to try and go down the route of being extra advanced, specialized, thorough in knowledge, etc.

"but don't get overly emotional and nasty towards people who are trying to progress in their own lane"

There's nothing wrong with being very passionately against what she said because it was SUPER outrageous. She was like the ultimate social-justice-warror-feminist-neo-liberal-baby-back-bitch for programming instead of politics. And what made more of a target for me to bash was the fact that she was super condescending the entire time toward anyone who remotely wanted to feel good for being "better". Then remember, she is DECLARING that there is NO SUCH THING as a REAL programmer. Like in other words, she's saying someone who's a "junior developer" who just uses libraries, stackoverflow, and works off examples is just as "real" as someone who's a hardcore expert.
