Over-the-counter birth control would be safe for teens, researchers say.

Lucky! Depression and anxiety runs in my family, and the pill triggered me to feel both anxiety and depression. I've been on and off the pill far too often for this to be a coincidence. While on the pill, I had racing thoughts, I would lay in bed all day, I got into fights with people I loved, I cried all the time. Off of it I felt great. It's not even that outlandish. It tricks your body with synthetic hormones. I didn't even know other people had these emotional problems with BC pills until I noticed my own issues, so I wasn't trying to look for these specific side effects. I asked my gyno about it and she brushed it off, saying if I had depression in my family the pill could make me feel depressed, but then she said I should try a different one. I tried tons of different ones. They were all the same to me. I'm glad I stopped. Of course, the pill doesn't affect every woman the same way, and plenty of women have said the same thing you have; it makes them feel great or balanced. I just wish I had stopped taking it sooner. Girls should be informed and encouraged to try it, but also encouraged to trust their bodies and pay attention to their mental health in the same way they pay attention to their physical health.
