Need advice from teachers about special needs student.

This is a tough decision. I have a student with ASD in my mainstream class and I try my best to differentiate for him. I’ve thought a lot about whether he would thrive in our support unit, however, I honestly don’t think he would. The students in those units are on another level. A lot of them cannot communicate (at all) and there a lot of students with significant behavioural issues. I’ve had duty a few times in the unit and it can be really intense, a lot of yelling, crying, students running around trying to throw punches. It’s a tough decision, but I think it really depends on what ASD symptoms your child exhibits and the school itself.
