It depends on how deep and how shallow you go into the cult. Some male qters genuinely believe that sex is a spectrum and they've been lied to all their life. They think they're white-knighting it and preventing discrimination from occurring by saying sex makes no difference to anyone's life. Some female qt-ers actually understand pomo and what it has to do with women's rights, and agree with it for their own purposes.

A lot of people who aren't specialists take it at face value that biologists who know more than them have discovered something highly scientific (more advanced than high school biology) that says humans have no sex binary. That's the majority of people into this stuff, that's scary. I think part of perpetuating this idea is that the three groups actually can't understand what each other is saying. They're forced to tip toe around the issue because of politeness, and because they're constantly teetering on the brink of cancellation they need to overcompensate and make sure everybody knows that SEX IS NOT BINARY. So the higher ups think the common followers understand them, when they just defer to authority with no understanding of what they're supporting. The guys think they've hit jackpot, we're in a post-feminist society now, anyone can have fun any way they want. And the majority of the followers are either scared shitless, or literally believe there's been new scientific discoveries about biology and point to lots of articles from scientific journals to prove it.

Or like you, they just believe biology is insignificant in a social context and there's no use talking about it as if it is anymore, because as long as we don't tie gender to it it'll all be okay. That's problematic in a different way.
