Nissan “Stop Lamp Recall”

Correct they’re triggered by the VIN. As long as you have the paperwork to prove it’s repaired you’re good to go.

To quote a dealership tech:

“I’m a former Hyundai technician. The brake light switch was a recall on tons of Hyundai and Kia models. Just call the Hyundai dealership with your VIN and they’ll tell yu the deal. I haven’t seen the replacement switches go bad, sothe recall probably hasn’t been performed. Just call the dealer.”

A reddit user used this information to determine if the open recall was closed on their car. The dealership was unable to obtain this information.
