Why not demonstrate siddhi to the public?

While I don't even believe in the literal interpretations of siddhis, I realize there are many reasons why advanced meditators remain relatively hidden from the public.

Long ago, meditators noticed several experiences and ways of living that are eternally-unattractive to those who crave power, status, wealth, and sensuality.

This knowledge is sort of like an 'eternal law of nature' that people can realize for themselves. Advanced meditators realized that they could be contented in the midst of what is both attractive AND unattractive to craving-overwhelmed humans; so the meditators often opted for these 'repellent' ways of life, at least conventionally repellant. Why? Not just the surface 'spiritual purity' reasons.

If a meditator can really be happy in the midst of whatever would make a vicious or unstable person unhappy, the meditator becomes effortlessly free of entanglement and squabbles just by following the 'eternal laws of nature' I hinted at, avoiding countless dangerous and chaotic beings who would otherwise be clashing with them if the meditator had tried to find the same contentment through objects and ways-of-life that craving-overwhelmed humans find conventionally-attractive.
