Not sure if this has been posted already but I thought I should share it.

Good post... but there are more mass shootings, in the USA, than we hear about on the news, and although the majority of the shooters are white males, many are not.

There were 417 mass shootings in 2019... meaning at least 4 people were injured/killed during each incident.

There have been 65 mass shootings so far in 2020. On March 15, there were two mass shootings... 7 people were killed in NC, and 5 people were killed and 2 injured in Missouri. One man killed 6 relatives and himself.

We shouldn't just think of mass shootings as public shootings with unhinged white dudes opening fire on random people.

Why are GVA Mass Shooting numbers higher than some other sources?

GVA uses a purely statistical threshold to define mass shooting based ONLY on the numeric value of 4 or more shot or killed, not including the shooter. GVA does not parse the definition to remove any subcategory of shooting. To that end we don’t exclude, set apart, caveat, or differentiate victims based upon the circumstances in which they were shot. GVA believes that equal importance is given to the counting of those injured as well as killed in a mass shooting incident.
