Now that the I.O.I members have all debuted, how do you rank their debuts? Who do you think has the most staying power in the industry?

I haven't followed any of the groups super closely, so this will be a bit of an outsider's perspective.

Gugudan - I actually feel their largest problem is the low amount of comebacks. They've been around for a year+ and they have only had 2 comebacks. I'm sure part of the reason for this is to let Sejeong do her own thing, but I believe rookie groups need to be aggressive about getting their names out there. I'm sure there are details and choices they could have made to better their comebacks, but I think it's easy to forget those if you manage to breakthrough.

Pristin - I would describe IOI's charm as "strong individuals in a group". I think Pristin emulated this concept for their debut and it was brilliant. Despite not being formed the same way, they managed to capture a similar feeling.

Chungha - I'll be honest, I have a really hard time judging a solo artist. It feels like they usually dominate everything (like IU), or they just flail around at the bottom, especially if they aren't from an already popular group. It sounded like a good debut and that's just good lol.

Weki Meki - It's a little early to judge IMO. The one thing I will say, I checked out their MV and skipped to a random part just to get a quick judge of the song. I listened to 30 seconds of it and Doyeon and Yoojung were on screen probably 95% of the time...

In the end, I think having a popular member is not bad, it's just a really hard balancing problem that is different from having all no names. I view rookie groups like a start up business and the first year is super important. You aren't necessarily going to be at your best and you will learn ALOT from it. The important thing to remember is to be aggressive, get your name known. Make the mistakes now when you have more loyal and forgiving fans/customers.
