I didnt mention it in this comment but in another one below, I do support non veg diets as well. In India most people who are non veg only eat meat 2/3 times a week, and most of it isnt some resource intense meat like beef or pork. We have been eating meat for centuries but only in the past century has the world population gone up this large. Thinking the earth would be ok when “everyone has their way with food” is going to further promote those Brazilian ranchers chopping the amazon for grazing land. Im not arguing for supplements, thats stuff people should only take based on doctors judgement. Increasing meat will help in India but we still have to ensure that its not some unsustainable amount which takes excessive resources. Chicken meat production is less intensive so I dont even have an issue with it, I prefer it to other meats (except for maybe shrimp). Its just that when theres eggs, chicken, etc. why would people eat expensive meats like beef and to a lesser extent pork. Theres so much grazing space required, you need to feed the cow alot more food for it to grow, methane emissions, and so many other factors.
