Official Discussion - Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens [SPOILERS]

  1. I didn't mean he himself had 3 years of training with Obi-Wan, I mean the time span from him learning to use a lightsaber to him meeting the emperor in the last film spans around 3 years and in that time he had Obi-wan's training, Yoda's training, and his own personal training. Also, the fact that Obi-wan died didn't really matter considering that he came back as a ghost multiple times to guide Luke further.
  2. That's fine, I get that, but you cannot argue that it wasn't ridiculous that Rey can instantly use a mind trick on a storm trooper. Luke wouldn't have been able to do that in the 4th film and everyone knows it. In addition, storm-troopers, whilst not strong, are not necessarily 'weak minded', they'll have been trained in combat since birth and brainwashed with propaganda their whole lives (the new order, at least.
  3. I was referring to that scene - if it wasn't for Han Luke would have frozen to death. Luke openly knowledges that Han saved his life.
  4. I understand that, but she demonstrates huge skills in operating ships/fixing ships. They were dozens of ships docked right next to where she lives, why didn't she take a job in ship maintenance?
  5. She burnt his face and knocked him to the ground and easily could have killed him if she wanted to. That's like arguing that in the 3rd film, Obi-wan didn't defeat Anakin because he didn't kill him.
  6. So good that she can defeat 4 men attempting to restrain her single-handedly? How has she received so much interaction with droids that she can communicated fluently? We have to credit it to "unknown forces", which basically means her powers are unexplainable, ie. the film couldn't be bothered to justify why she is so incredibly overpowered.
  7. But Anakin was clearly the one from the prophecy.
