Hello, I have a mirrorless canon camera and I need a good-decent lens for macro + other general things such as portraits, I heard good things about the EF 100mm f/2.8L IS Macro USM lens, which could fill my needs but I'm fairly new so I'm asking here to get better knowledge and tips.

This is an EF lens, meaning I need a EF to EF-M adapter, but I also need extension tubes to make its macro potential really shine, if I'm correct.

Would the whole thing work or would it be too long to be manageable, also what tubes do i need to buy, EF ones or EF-M ones?

How would the exposure be for macro, I believe photos will get much darker with this kind of setup.

I have a EF-M 28 mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM, it's pretty nice but I feel like it's not exactly enough for what I'm trying to shoot, such as insects or spiders. It can't reach this level of photo. What I'm trying to get is a more "extreme" macro. To achieve this I also need of course to get closer to the subject, but I can't get anymore close with the 28mm lens I have or I'd crush it. Yes I know the image I linked is most likely taken with a super expensive lens + post production and stacking but I'm trying to get as close as I can to that result without having to spend too much.

Thanks in advance.
