On the Star Citizen situation- The Escapist had lawyers verify the identities of employees [https://archive.is/Z9GR0]

maker of privateer (check it out, its epic space sandbox released in 1994) is making now a new spacegame. basically its same spacegame with new IP and new tech, but basics behind it are silly and oldtimers are going crazy cause publishers no longer want to invest into real games like these. there were some technical issues, which could have prevented the game from being made, but they were all solved and now its just about putting the pieces together

now children raised on consoles and EA/UBI production think a game like this is impossible, because they didnt played the good old games back in 90s, while we oldtimers know better.

now in this case there was a guy Derek Smart who is acquaintance with managing editor Mr. Keefe from Escapist who also happen to live in Florida, and this DS thinks he has patent on space games. he was threatening origin studio back in 90s with suits, cause they dared to work on space games as well. anyway when he released his space game in 90s after many delays, it was too buggy and unplayable.

in Chris Roberts words "by time he released Battlecruiser 3000, I shipped 4 wing commander games"

anyway SC maker CIG had a new ship sale on Friday, and yet somehow even tough Chris Roberts answered to Mr. Keefe, the hit piece got published, because Mr. Keefe "managing editor" claims he "forgot" to forward info he got from Chris Roberts 3 hours before to author in question.

but its CIG fault because her CC got lost in email when CIGs communication guy sent the email to Chris Robert. you know the usual "dog ate my homework". i mean why would a managing editor manage anything, if he can just have a hit piece published during the pledge sale of the latest SC ship

ou and Mr. Derek Smart, whose own space game these days is a prealpha unreleased buggy mess of 5 years (Line of Defense), should rather work on his own game, than play a messiah calling out SC, when at least what SC released in parts is actually playable without bugs. unlike his own game
