[Online][5E][Theatre of the mind] Dm looking for 1-3 players for a homebrew campaign.

Theatre of the mind, LGBTQ+ friendly, homebrew, and you DM. I'd like to extend an invitation to you. Would you like to join our D&D podcast? Here is the info:

[5e][online]Friendly funny people are welcome to join our actual play D&D podcast

Have you always wanted to joke around with friends on a D&D podcast?

Are you a funny person who is interested in playing Dungeons and Dragons and owns an external microphone? You’re welcome to play D&D with us. Firebreathing Kittens is a silly light hearted D&D podcast. Members play as often as every other week or as infrequently as every other month. Each episode stands alone so our members can play as often as works for their schedule. The more laughing together the better on our show. It’s all about hanging out with friends. If you’ve ever been watching the anime “Fairy Tail” and thought to yourself, “I wish I had friends like that”, well, we thought that too, so we made it happen. Send us an email at firebreathingkittenspodcast at gmail dot com asking to join, and we’ll reply back with the standard support agreement our lawyers ask us to have everyone sign (you know lawyers, they always want the agreements settled first before we play, not after). You can take it to a notary (most banks have a notary service for members for free) and sign it in front of them, then scan and send it back to us.

Here are some examples of recent episodes if you'd like to hear what playing together in our weekly standalone original adventures is like:

https://player.whooshkaa.com/episode/730395 is An Existential Crisis, an adventure where the person who plays Mendax Yarnspinner was the DM. He told a story very similar to Inception, where the players were not sure if they were in a dream or in reality, and there were some fun ethics dilemmas.

https://player.whooshkaa.com/episode/714517 is Age Before Beauty, an adventure where the person who plays Pidge Beakman was the DM. She told a mystery story sort of like a spy thriller where the players thought they were doing one thing but they were actually being manipulated to do another thing. If you like Mission Impossible then you might like this mystery action adventure.

https://player.whooshkaa.com/episode/643810 is Puzzles and Pickpockets, an adventure where the person who plays Crud Jr. and Adrien was the DM. He told a story where an orphan yanked the coin purse of a member of the adventuring party, and the heroes have to follow that rascal through a series of dangerous puzzles and traps in order to retrieve their gold.

There is a support agreement to sign because yes we do monetize the podcast. No you're not going to make a bunch of money. But because some of our members are authors and webcomic artists it made sense to have a system in place where people could express themselves creatively with novels, audiobooks, and webtoons based on the D&D adventures they loved. We have several real books actively for sale on amazon people can buy that were based on our adventures. There's a chance the D&D session you play in could become a book, audiobook, or comic. When that happens, the support agreement says that all the contributors split the profits evenly.

Each week's four hour long game session of the Firebreathing Kittens has a beginning and an end to its story. Because of this format, the individual adventures stand sturdily on their own. This is an “anthology” format. You don’t have to play every week to level up. You'll want to listen to the other episodes to see what your friends got up to and what the NPCs were doing, but jumping in and out of the overall story as your schedule allows is kind of the whole point. Everyone is adults with real lives; we all want to have the freedom to play D&D as often as our current schedule allows, which may change. Players are welcome to play as frequently as every other week, or as infrequently as every other month.

No previous D&D experience is required, but we do ask that you please purchase and read the 5th edition Player's Handbook. The Player's Handbook is a hardcover book published by Wizards of the Coast. It's about 300 pages long, but it's not written with the intention of being read in page order necessarily. Read the start of each chapter to see if your character uses those rules, rather than reading it in order of page numbers. For example chapter ten on page 200 has how to cast spells, a very basic thing all spell casting classes need to know how to do. Use the table of contents and glossary to find the sections your character build needs. If you'd like, you can listen to our episodes as a way to help you learn the rules and the format. You can find them on any podcast playing app or on youtube. These are standalone episodes, where each adventure has an original, self contained plot. For people who prefer to DM rather than be a player, you're welcome to do that. If you want to DM once every three months, you can do that, too. If you want to play once a month and DM once every other month, you can. There is a big signup calendar at the top of the organization page. This is truly a "as often as works for your schedule" thing.

Here are some things you'll need to play D&D with us:

  • 5th edition player's handbook

  • the free program skype

  • the free program audacity

  • an external microphone (if you don't yet own one, ask us about it, we've got some suggestions for good models)

  • over the ear headphones (not ear buds)

The week before each game, we make a poll for the three players and the DM. The poll says:

  • Weds 6:30-10:30 pm EST (New York City time zone)

  • Thurs 6:30-10:30 pm EST

  • Fri 6:30-10:30 pm EST

  • Sat 10am-2pm EST

  • Sat noon-4pm EST

  • Sat 2-6pm EST

  • Sat 4-8pm EST

  • Sat 6-10pm EST

  • Sat 8pm-midnight EST

  • Sun 10am-2pm EST

  • Sun noon-4pm EST

  • Sun 2-6pm EST

  • Sun 4-8pm EST

  • Sun 6-10pm EST

A week before the game, the four people who signed up on the calendar are asked to click yes on every time on the poll that they are available. If you would be available for like six of those times then it should work out.
