Tl;dr, you will search when destroying cards in the Pendulum Zone.

Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer was nerfed but in a way that for most purposes will not be relevant.

Konami may yet fix this, leaked card text has been changed before, or they may issue an immediate erratum in the Card Database.

TCG text:

"If this card is Special Summoned: You can target up to 2 cards you control; destroy them, and if you do, add "Performapal" monsters with different names from your Deck to your hand, except "Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer, equal to the number of monsters destroyed. You can only use this effect of "Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer" once per turn."

OCG text reads "equal to the number of cards destroyed." This change is only relevant so far as you could destroy your own backrow to search, which you would never do. This isn't an option with the TCG text, but it's not super relevant.

As for the argument that destroying Pendulum Zone cards will/will not give you a search, refer to Caius the Shadow Monarch.

Caius' effect:

"When this card is Tribute Summoned: Target 1 card on the field; banish that target, and if you do, inflict 1000 damage to your opponent if it was a DARK monster."

Accepted rulings on this card state that even though the card contains the simultaneous conjunctive "and if you do" (meaning simultaneous occurrence of banishing the card + checking type of card to inflict damage) the type of card Banished is checked where it ends up rather than on the field.

One such ruling is that if Caius the Shadow Monarch targets and subsequently banishes a DARK Pendulum Monster in the Pendulum Zone, it still deals 1000 LP damage because that card is a DARK Monster in the Banish pile.

Following from this reasoning, Sorcerer's effect will similarly check the type of card where it ends up rather than on the field because it contains the same conjunctive.

Therefore Sorcerer will be able to destroy cards in the Pendulum Zone and search from destroying them because they are Monsters wherever they end up.
