/r/Yugioh Banlist Prediction Thread - May 11, 2022

F:

Scythe Verte Don

L:

Souls Rite

S:

U:

Salami Circle Scapegoat

I think these are the most realistic candidates for F&L treatment. Some comments:

  • While Don is the go-to choice to gut current the synchro combos, I could see this list be the one that takes down Halq.

  • Souls is ridiculous: it's effortless card economy for any deck that has floating S/Ts (that is, almost every good deck right now) and puts a body on board for free. What pushes this card over the top now is that its engine requirement, its one drawback, is now a starter itself. Frankly, I think this card is banworthy.

  • For the sake of making a conservative prediction, I was fairly soft on Brave, but they could realistically go further by hitting Gryphon. Personally, I find hits like this pretty weird, but I see it working here.

  • DPE is in an awkward position -- still very strong but attenuated by the Branded strategies. As such, I'm not sure that a concurrent FD limit would be warranted: I suspect that even with FD still at 2, a Verte ban will be enough to edge it out of the format. That said, FD to 1 on top of Verte to 0 is quite likely as well, if only to emulate the OCG.

  • Some lacunae. Firstly, Mine -- it needs to go at some point, but lovetapping Brave means that a consistent in-engine out to Mine exists at the heart of the meta. Secondly, Eldlich -- since release, it's enjoyed consistent viability both as a dedicated monke strategy and as the grind game muscle of pile decks. I could see a hit coming to it, but I'm not sure where it'll land. Thirdly, Harp and Mite -- they can easily come back, but if anything, they're wishlist cards.
