that’s what i was getting at, many of the ways racism persists are subtle and often nigh invisible if you don’t know what you’re looking for. some not so much, as i hope the events of the past year have illuminated.

the class divide, however, is the real beast and is becoming ever more difficult to work around. financial education is certainly lacking, it’s pretty much non existent in the public education system, and if we inherited the same financial world my parents grew up in it probably would be the key to a comfortable living.

but it’s not the same financial world, and when you inherited little to nothing & have to spend almost every dollar of your paycheck on necessities & things like predatory student loans, it doesn’t make much sense to blame the struggle that the ever-growing lower class faces on lack of financial smarts alone. from my understanding it used to be possible to live a comfortable if very modest life on an entry level job, and that is certainly not the case anymore.
