Players overestimating their ability to flex

I had an epic match in MLPC against some Legend that basically lost the match because they swapped their CMP-winning Excadrill to Gary on the 2nd Drill Run. I just felt like it was probably the most nonsensical thing to do. I'm clearly the one who's gonna have to bounce or else I lose my Exca so the proper play would be to just throw a Rock Slide and hope I swap to a Gary or Dnite to catch.

But the match went like this: Exca mirror, we both DR on 6, both shield, they win CMP, I'm forced to swap either next DR or DR after. 6 more Mud Shots I swap to DB Gary to catch, they swap to DB Gary (both hundos). Excas both have 1DR/6 Mud Shot. Both Garys hundos, CMP on Crunch, I go first (this fucks me because the coin flip probably goes to them on 2nd Crunch and that's the only important Crunch). 2nd Crunch I lose CMP and go down, swap in Dragonite, take out their Gary with 1 Dragon Tail. I think they're gonna pull out Exca, throw 1 Mud Shot then RS, so I don't attack for 1 turn, swap to my Exca while theirs is midswing, get the shield prompt, leap of faith no shield (either they are quick and it's a DR or they're slow and it's an RS). Turns out it's a Rock Slide, so they're at 1 Mud Shot, but I got a Mud Shot in so I'm at 7. I throw 5 Mud Shots, lose CMP to them, I shield, they shield, I have 1 Mud Shot worth of energy and they have 0. GG
