Article from August 2015 but written from a different HG employee - interesting more than a rant...

1) people have nit-picked at the actual number of planets, but its too big to comprehend so matter what the real figure is. So for all intents, this is true. 2) True 3) True 4) True (nothing is mentioned here that infers multiplayer) 5)True 6) True , though they added cutscene like camera events that are a bit too frequent for my liking. 7) Basically true, just the method of uploading was changed. I did like the idea of needing a physical presence in the world to do this, I think it's a shame that got dropped. 8) I haven't got there yet! :) I'm having too much fun exploring to follow the paths. (yes, after over a month I'm still just jumping from planet to planet, and checking stuff out) 9) True. But not what I expected. I expected big crashed ships, and unique artifacts. Not just loot crates and blueprints. 10) True. But nothing is particularly unclimbable. 11) This seems true. Though I think we inferred that they'd be a functional system, not stationary in space. 12) False! For me, this is one of the big disappointments. I was really expecting the extreme rarity as Sean described. with less than 1 in 100 having any life at all, but it's more like one in three :( This detracts from the exploration and the fun of finding things. I feel I've seen pretty much every variation pretty quickly. 13) True. Though death doesn't scare you, and there's no real pressure. So it feels nerfed even if it's factually correct. 14) True. But they're not really mountains. The scale just isn't there. 15) True. But assumptions got made about HOW this would be done. 16) True ... but not in the way that I think anyone thought it would be. 17) True ... but they're not really that different 18) True ... but perhaps not quite how we imagined. 19) True 20) True 21) True ... but more about set conditions triggering set responses. 22) FALSE ... AFAIK they're on every planet. 23) True-ish. BUT ... again, this isn't how we imagined. There's no consequence! There's no 'wars' or conflict that are discernably affected by the 3 factions. I think most people expected LOTS of factions and complex interaactions here. 24) Meh - see above. Sure, I guess talking to the Gek is 'siding' with them in a way, but its not like I can fight them. 25) True 26) True 27) True. I guess we misjudged just how much variation a few base models could generate. 28) True .. I guess. They all sound alike and sounds dont seem to be matched to creatures. Barren plants have creature sounds. 29) True .. but nerfed. No scaring creatures, and sentinals don't give a shit. (usually) 30) False - this doesn't seem to be included. 31) maybe? I've heard rumours. 32) True. useless though expect for buying ships. 33) True. But you cant carry enough to make trade worthwhile in most things, and the interface is slow 34) True - ish. Sure, they appear. You can attack them, defend them, but they don't DO anything. 35) True 36) False - I think any resource can be mined if you're patient enough. 37) meh. The music just doesn't stand out. 38) True. 39) True 40) True. But they seemed to have missed so may potential ideas! Rings around planets? Giant crashed ships? ruined cities? ring worlds? Non-humanoid aliens? 41) True? Take their word for this.
