Playoff Game Thread New York Islanders (1-0-0) at Washington Capitals (0-1-0) - 04/17/2015 - 7:00 ET game2 2

Hey btw, I'll still be happy and supportive of the team if/when we are eliminated. I'm pretty proud of how much better we are this year than we were last year, and I'm really proud of some of the performances we've put in on an individual level. That's not nothing.

You seem to have this issue where your mood vacillates wildly depending on how the team is doing. When we're not playing well, you can't understand why the rest of us continue to cheer, calling us a hive, sheep, blind, etc. and making snide comments about how you can't wait for us all to come over to your side when we're eliminated so that you can get your comeuppance.

As soon as we start playing well, you backpedal faster than a guy who finds out his blind date is an obese feminist. You can't have it both ways, and if you do, you're the definition of a fairweather fan, which is something that Washington fans are already widely mocked for being (come to a Nationals discussion sometime when we play an older, more established team, for example).

I'm not the type of person to give up on anyone, especially someone who actually supports the same things I do, but you really need to give it a good think before Sunday's game about how you want to be perceived by our community. I had a ton of negative thoughts during the first 25ish minutes of this game tonight, but I made them to my TV, and kept the cheering positive since that's what cheering actually is. I might suggest you try the same. We all get frustrated, but when you bring your frustration to the community, you just embroil controversy and animosity unnecessarily.

TL;DR-- Yell at your tv, cheer in the GDT with your friends and fellow fans. After the season, have a little more faith that our reaction will be positive, and our criticism will be constructive. I think we have a lot to improve on, but that doesn't mean our current season has been anything less than a success when weighed against our last season.
