This also a part of exposing the CIA for what it really is. They had much to do with SA being in the state it's in right now, with the Wahhabiyists obtaining so much power in the last few decades, as well as with the spread of radical Islam t/o the Middle East.

After the attempted overthrow of the House of Saud in 1979 (the seizure of the Grand Mosque at Mecca, coupled with a Shia uprising), the Wahhabiyists gained a powerful influence over the course subsequently taken by the country, and a more strict form of Islam was instituted, which we are dealing with today. This uprising and attempted coup sent shockwaves through the ruling family at the time. An agreement was entered into, with the Sunni radicals permitted to spread a radical form of Islam externally, as long as any uprisings were suppressed internally, obviating any future threats to the ruling family by jihadists. (This development also allowed the ibn Sauds to continue their luxe lifestyles, which were being criticised at the time for not being pious enough, a complaint which fueled the uprising).

With agreement of the ruling family, the CIA helped fund this radicalisation and spread of Islam.

I don't think most people realise how embedded our US intelligence community has been in the part of the world or how much unrest they have caused by their illicit and covert activities (including by educating young people there to be extremists). It goes deeper the more that you look.
