A ton of hospitals in our area are currently operating under crisis-capacity staffing as we speak because they're overrun. Hospitals have been opening previously unused areas and converting them into patient care areas to deal with the surge. Hospitals are shutting down non-essential surgeries and survices to deal with the increased volume. Look on the nursing or medicine subreddits and you'll see these are the accounts of front-line workers everywhere. It's true that this is in large part due to staffing, but increased patient volumes are undeniably a huge part of it.
