Not sure who these Punjabis are but I have a circle that prides in speaking Punjabi and that includes all villages , some major towns and all my relatives. May be the NRIs might have problems especially the generation that have born there but don't think that Punjabi villages have that but then that's my understanding.

Yes, one thing is for sure the language is getting deteriorated because of it getting mixed with english rather than hindi but if you look anywhere on internet we have lesser literature or other Punjabi works to check out.For eg, I know a lot of Punjabi writers and their works but there is little to no knowledge of most of those.
