Yeah lol. You travel all around the world to end up eating fucking filet-o-fish from mcdonald’s or some halal kebab. Even when I found vegetarian versions of local food my family members would reject it/reject the place “because the place has alcohol/ it’s a bar” (spoiler: they all serve alcohol in Europe). Sometimes family members totally forget that the traditional recipe is made with pork fat/alcohol, and I forget to tell them or I just stray away on my own and when they tell me they had “tiramisu and risotto”, I shut up bc I know they’ll have a meltdown if they knew. My travels got like 5 times better when I started going on my own and allowed myself to go to local markets and restaurants and eat ALL THE FOOD. It’s so good.
