PVC primer question.

If you have two sets of channel locks, use a small scrap piece with just glue and wait even after a day and youll notice you can spin the two pieces apart. For that reason primer is a must. Once you use primer and the glue cures it will not come apart with channel locks no matter how hard you twist. The primer helps chemically melt the pieces together to form one bonded piece. Its a super strong connection when done right and should last decades.

Make sure to wipe the pipe clean with a rag. Dont get any dirt inside or it will leak eventually. You can use some emery cloth to scuff the pvc but its not really necessary as the primer does the job to prep the pipe. In a pinch if im reusing a piece that has some junk on it i will use emery cloth. For new pieces just clean and primer, wait for it to dry and glue it. Be swift about pushing the two pieces together because it dries pretty fast.

Also hold the two pieces together for about 10 seconds as they will want to push out and away from each other.

If this is your first time id suggest buying the slower curing stuff. Its much more forgiving.

AND WEAR GLOVES!!! Not even a debate there. And wear your worst clothes you have. You get that glue on anything it wont come off.

Whatever glue you use wait at least an hour before testing to be safe. All of them cure pretty fast. Good luck.
