[Question] Should I produce ASMR videos from this stockpile of footage?

I don't know because I don't experience ASMR, therefore, I very much want your opinion. Thank you!

I wouldn't try to make content for it, this is one of a lot of people's complaints about the flood of ASMR out there. Too many people that don't know what the hell they're doing trying to cash in on something.

However, a lot of people in the sub also like "unintentional" stuff, or stuff made to just be calming in general, and a lot of this is favored by this sub, because a lot of users here don't get "asmr" either.

I think the distinction, for me, is that one should be genuinely into what they're doing. Few really appreciate a "poser".

That's all just attempting to give you an idea of what sort of stuff winds up working.

Making content is generally difficult for someone in your situation. Someone desperate can really find what they're capable of, people can throw themselves into working hard at a thing they'd never want to do. You don't need to act to dig a ditch or flip burgers, or whatever else.

That sounds bad, I'm not suggesting you "go find a job" in that crass way that many do, I'm saying that content creation can be a whole different beast where will and physical ability doesn't necessarily amount to much.

Making compelling/successful relaxing content tends to have stability as a pre-requisite. Real life stress can be a roadblock for making good/profitable content that is centered on not being stressful.

You can always try. Who knows, maybe you're a natural and will be an instant hit. Even then, a lot of people that seem to be a "natural" quickly run out of inspiration and fade into obscurity. A lot of people in more stable situations still wind up failing at this(YT in general), they may run a very short spurt of popularity then just sort of vanish from the scene. That is to say, even initial popularity may not amount to anything. ASMR has a lot of veritable "one hit wonders".

I wouldn't hang any hopes on it, in other words. If you've got the time/resources, may as well give it a shot.

If you're down to a place where doing this means you can't do something else that may be more helpful to your situation, it may not be the thing to do.
