Rank is purposefully more volatile than MMR so you can see larger gains quickly when you get on a hot streak (the corresponding cold streaks that come along with that aren’t quite as entertaining). so a whole system for no net gain. great busy work and thanks for stealing everyones money. amazing "game designer" right here I believe most players would be frustrated with such little visible results for their played time. well use bigger numbers or real exp grinds that guarantee rewards rather than try to fake them with skill gain illusions from low placements. repeat after me: there is no free lunch. they will realize they are bad but at least they were hanging around a little longer buying things right? this isn't game design it's a business model. MMR is also a pretty hardcore concept good joke. it's elementary math. They also allow us to do things that you really can’t do with MMR as it would destroy the integrity of the measurement: promotions/demotions, rank penalties for leavers, etc promotions is just a lie since it's all based on mmr breakpoints anyway. showing that your silly icon is in danger of changing if you lose a game or two doesn't need an extra layer of dysfunctional obfuscation why are they using rank penalties when rewards are for max rank? that's not even a punishment for anyone outside grandmaster for wasting 9 other peoples time. It’s worth noting that giving players a way to see their MMR is on our to-do list. It’s useful and interesting information for dedicated players. only highly skilled ones because the difference between, for example, d2 and d3 is insignificant. shhh don't tell them that though.
