This cell system tracks your location by listening to data from, or exchanging messages with the phone from at least two different cell sites/towers and measuring the time delays. This narrows down the location to an approximate 3 mile radius." "We tracked Xxxxxx (alleged accomplice) using GPS. To pinpoint Xxxxxx location the GPS links to a ground station and then to several satellites, which can find your location to within fifty to a hundred feet."
