Regarding the Lunchables Build

I think that you're oversimplifying that and discrediting the process that was held in the PMDT. Speaking as former PMDT, yes, there were some people in the Dev Team that had no business designing characters. Some of those people were actually more experienced players. Others, were not. Some of the best ideas came from players who aren't active in the competitive scene, but still have a great understanding of game design. However, regardless of everything, there was a system of checks and balances. And there was always someone playing Devil's Advocate to ensure that the process was respected, and every angle was covered.

Do you know how long it took me to convince the Dev Team to let Ness' bair do 1% more damage to match melee? First we had to talk about compensating the knockback. Then we had to talk about why Ness' bair should be neutral on shield, then we had to talk about what other implications it had with the rest of his kit. This was for a 1% buff with knockback compensated.

I'm not going to express my opinion on the Lunchables build. But I will say that the PMDT wasn't perfect. But we were receptive to feedback, had a system, and you have no idea of the filtration and playtesting process involved unless you were there first hand.
