SDCC Reddit Party 2019 - Seeking Volunteers
Hello everyone and welcome to this year’s party planning committee for our eventual (3rd annual, unofficial) SDCC Reddit Party 2019!
Last year we saw over 300 Redditors join us at Gaslamp’s Tipsy Crow for drinks, trivia games, and prizes and we want to, once more, party and drink and dance with you in 2019. You’ve heard this year will mark San Diego Comic-Con International’s 50th anniversary and we’re going to aim for the stars, but we need your help.
We’re looking for help with contacting this year’s SDCC promoters (Reddit, Marvel, Disney, local San Diego businesses, etc.) and hoping for swag (their brand, collectibles, etc.) or financial support in exchange for their branding across our SDCC Reddit marketing materials (“Brought to you by…”, “Presented by…”, “In Collaboration With…”).
Our highest priority is confirming a venue for all of us. We need help finding a Gaslamp District venue, walking distance from the Convention Center, with access to alcohol for either July 18 or July 19, to house an average of 150 Redditors for the night. I’ve gone ahead and contacted a handful of local venues and, unfortunately, a pro-bono venue space does not seem to be an option at this time. And so, a few brave souls to contact possible candidate venues in the hopes of a free space will be essential.
One last favor, we need help fulfilling this year’s Reddit SDCC 2019 Party branded swag. Designs are incoming shortly but in the meantime you can find details in our public Google spreadsheet.
Thoughts on setting up a donations page? A fund raiser? Donation tiers? Volunteered entertainment? DJ? Quiz master? Volunteered food trucks (if applicable)? And this idea would be cool in and of itself, a “last ditch effort” bar crawl instead! Nothing is more meaningful than the friends we make along the way!
