[serious] Teens of Reddit - is there something you'd like to know that you are too afraid/embarrassed to ask in person?

The people who claim "high school is the best time of your life" are full of shit. The people who claim that were likely the stereotypical "on the football team, whole school loves them, girls drool over them, and don't have to do any school work," bullshit you see in movies from the 70s and 80s.

For the record, playing video games, watching anime, and becoming a hermit in your room for the entire 3 months of summer break.. nothing wrong with that. Nothing at all. And fuck anyone who says otherwise. I don't care - and nobody should really - if you were nerding it up with games and anime, became a professional bowler, or learned how to ride a unicycle in your basement. If you enjoyed it, great! the fuck else matters?

Life actually gets sweeter when you're out of high school. There is NO person in college or university (or in their 20s, school or not) who will say "life sucks now, i wish i was 15 again." The older you get, the more freedom you obtain to persue whatever makes you happy.

In all things in life, happy people enjoy their happiness and unhappy people piss their unhappiness upon the world. The 9 people who got a job keep quiet, but the 1 who didn't tells the world that there are no jobs. The 90% who spend decently and enjoy life, well, enjoy life, and the 10% of fucking retards who piss money on nothing, well, they make sure you hear about how hard the adult world is.

High school is a small, insignificant little spec in the grand scheme of your life. Once it is done, not a damn thing done there will be of any importance, save a piece of paper and some - optional - friends if you want them.
After high school, you can meet a whole world of people with your interests and build your new life around things and people who please you. Socially awkward? Guess what, a ton of people are. You'll easily find some others and you can be awkwardly awkward around each other.

TL;DR Fuck prom if you don't want to go, it won't mean a damned thing after high school anywho. You spend all your summers binging on anime and games. No girl friend. Social skillz? Who needs them? You're fine. The big world of adults and stuff after high school is nothing to be afraid of. Shit is amazingly easy to work through and you just need to have a decent head on your shoulders. Enjoy whatever hobby or interest you have, be yourself as much as possible, and in the world after high school, you'll be able to create your own identity, build a comfortable world for you, create a lifestyle around whatever pleases you, populate it with people whose company you enjoy, and look back at this time in your life and think, "damn, I could've put in another game or two during the time I spent worrying about how awesome a life I would make for myself."
