Should I be worried about Tesla getting bankrupt?

While I highly doubt Tesla will fail, there are enough cars on the road support will not be a problem. Consider the Saturn, which does not have near the community Tesla has.

Support was never in question because Saturn was subsidiary of GM, and when Saturn was shut-down GM handled all its warranty and service. So Saturn isn't the best car-maker analogy to Tesla.

And believe it or not, Saturn had "community". Their owners were even known to make these pilgrimages to Saturn headquarters -- 44,000 people came to the first one from all over the country.

  • In Saturn's 5th year of sales, they had already sold a million cars.
  • By its 9th year, two-million cars

I never owned a Saturn, but I knew people who did. They were a happy bunch, but GM killed the brand.

Tesla and Saturn did share one trait -- they both wanted to reinvent the car buying experience with "no haggle" pricing.
