Honestly, I am just not a fan of the “gear select” being on screen. We’ve (Tesla owners) all dealt with an MCU crash and reboot. That sort of unavailability for a vital piece of control, as of right now, would make me decide against buying a Tesla equipped with this. Now, I can’t currently justifying the cost of an S, so it doesn’t affect me at this time. I’m afraid this is going to hit the other cars because they want to reduce the part count. I don’t know what the experience is like, but that’s just how I feel at the moment. I feel this is a battle of form versus function versus cost savings, and it’s a fail. Again, all my initial opinions as I have yet to experience it.

Oh, the auto shift is also another thing. Of course it’s marked as “beta”. So, that’s the Tesla software moniker for everything… forever. please be safe, and try not to smash into my car.
