Unfortunately he hasn't been. Lots of new schemes have been launched and press-released but there is zero visible change or implementation. Modi has been spending enormous sums on foreign visits and self promotion. Public schools that can't afford benches were rented video conferencing for ~$2000 a pop so they could see his inaugural speech.
He hasn't brought any black money back into India which was one of his campaign's central promises. His government has made strategic leaks of swiss bank account holders in the opposition party to score political points but no action has been carried out on people from either party. Nothing has been done about rising inflation.
Modi is extremely vocal when it comes to criticizing the opposition, congratulating kabaddi champions and wishing Happy Diwali, but had nothing to say to the country when a series of major hate crimes were committed within a span of 2 months. Racist and ignorant remarks come from his ministers all the time and are duly ignored.
We have an education minister with a fake bachelor's degree and a Chief Minister who was not investigated after having been found to be taking bribes in the order of billions of rupees. Two famous businessmen (Lalit Modi and Vijay Mallya) who embezzled billions of dollars of public funds were given get out of jail free passes by the Ministry of External Affairs and other agencies. A farmer whose crops had all failed due to drought came asking for help for his village from one of Modi's ministers in Rajasthan. When the farmer said in desperation that he's ready to commit suicide, the minister replied "go kill yourself".
Meanwhile, taxes have been jacked up like nobody's business. There's a new 0.5% tax on all services for the Swachta Abhiyan (Cleanliness Campaign) and that money is only going to press events instead of actual cleanliness. The jewelry industry went on a one month strike against taxes. The tobacco industry lost a whole month of revenue and are not producing at the moment due to a declaration regarding packaging design. My pack of cigarettes cost about $4.50 before Modi came to power, and today costs $6.00 and has to be bought illegally.
But the opposition is very "low energy" and idiotic, and despite having had some good politicians and sound policies, is failing miserably because of its dynastic leadership. Any mistakes they made are being amplified five times over, and any good they did is being credited to the BJP by a fake grassroots movement via social media. Modi is so well advised by the K Street mafia that he even astroturfed a stadium so that googling "modi astroturf" will not lead you to the truth.
Modi is the reverse of Trump in some ways because he's going for more government and more corrupt government. The only thing they have in common is the perception of being business-friendly, which is more true in Trump's case than in Modi's.
That said, I'm astonished that Hindus for Trump don't find the whole centipede thing offensive. They're referring to you with a newly invented racial slur and discriminating against two groups that look exactly like you, and yet you blindly follow in hopes that you will be assimilated. Your vote is your vote, but just a little PSA: keep yourself and your kids safe and away from any people wearing pointed white hats (KKK), swastikas (those guys are not Sri Sri fans), cowboy outfits or biker outfits when you go to Trump events.
I support Hindus who vote and have their voices heard regardless of who they vote for. Arguably Trump will be better for India and Indians just like Republicans generally have been in the past, but I do implore you to not let yourself be marginalized and shat on like this.
