Slightly afraid of going to draft event

I honestly don't know why you're being downvoted. Take it from me I started about 1 month ago, and subbed on here for 2 months now.

People in this sub are generally not friendly to help new players, and most posts that are "What's a good budget deck for a new player to try for first FNM". Or..is aggro frowned upon at fnm, going to first one etc.. posts will get downvoted.

BUT don't get discouraged! I've had a ton of people message me apologizing for the general community and helping me out and you will to, so don't worry about getting downvoted.

Most of the players here seem to think like "oh why would you ask about that card, its absolute crap" as if new players are somehow suppose to be born with this knowledge..there's a reason new players are asking for help.

A good thing with draft is that remember around 24 of your cards are going to be lands, and you don't always take your rare, but as a new player it might not be bad if it's a good rare JUST to build your collection even if it doesn't go into your deck!

People are SUPER nice at the FNM's trust me!! Do NOT take people in this subreddit downvoting your asking for help as the MTG community. I've spoke with this to multiple people at FNM's and they all said they try to stay away from the "elitists" here. People will be VERY friendly to you at FNM.

It's such a blast to find such an awesome local community to help you you're going to love it, just tell them you're new, and ask them if when they lay a card you can look at it, while they're doing the actions of the card (like searching through deck or putting counters on a creature) this way you can keep up the pace a bit, while reading his card and they don't have to read it out loud to you each time.

I did this the last 3 weeks, just ask and everybody's let me grab the cards after laying to slide over a bit and read it myself to understand it while they do the action of it. Have fun!!
