Some call it Europe, we call it home! (r/alleu)

This statement is so black and white it's unbelievable. And probably coming from a non-muslim too, right.

Here in Austria we have a group called "Muslimische Jugend Österreich" which translates to "Muslim Youth Austria". Although I have to add that I lost touch with the group a year ago, because of my doubts of religion in general. I'm not so sure about the whole god thing anymore.

To date they have formed the biggest islamic group of this country. They travel to different countries/states together every year and get teached more and more about Islam.

I grew up with them and one of the biggest things they try to hammer into every childs head is one thing: "Islam is a religion of progress and interpretation"

I was taught that we have to accept Shia and other formations of islam as our brothers or at least accept them. The only exception is when some group clearly goes so far off route that the essence of what this religion should teach is lost (ex.: Peace/ISIS).

Sharia became it's very own topic and the thing we agreed on is that the methods and punishments it teaches are something of the past that doesn't fit the times we live in anymore.

In the times Islam first became a thing, violent punishments for crimes were commonly accepted all over the globe. The death penalty was also a thing in most countries.

I was taught that as the world changes we have to adjust ourselves and the religion we believe in to the planet we live on.

It's funny how you judge so many people you will never even know. By assuming "muslims are/do/believe" you make a statement concerning over a billion people.
