Why do some people just seem to have a 'knack' for writing?

as someone who has a "knack for writing" i think it depends on the mindset you have.

a good example i can remember is from like 3rd grade. i was writing about a robot and my teacher came over to tell me how descriptive i was. i just wanted to explain what i saw in a way that was clear to others.

time went on, i became a more introspective person. i started wondering why i had this talent. but if im being honest.. its because i don't consider myself a "writer" before anything else yea. but above that im a thinker. all im doing is thinking and fashioning words.

i have no emotional connection to a word i put on paper. i can/ have thrown away 100 pages as quickly as i throw away 2 pages. and people are always wondering why its so easy for me to throw stuff away and call things they deem good "bad". then my abilities evolve a year later and they go "ooh, this is better" in a way i can see my capacity without actually knowing what it will blossom into. an easy comparison is an athlete consistently running a 4.4 40, but they're not satisfied, then a year later its a 4.2. you keep going because you become obsessed with your evolution.

but the way i write is a bit weird to explain. kanye said it best, the goal is to be water. let certain rules go and play with structures. my mind goes through 10-50 sentence structures as im writing, attempting to design a pack of words. working on lyrics also helps. people often commend me for my creative use of fragments and a lot of it comes from that. i also study psychology so i have an idea of what the human mind can perceive. like

"he stared into the window, a whisper, a lie: blah blah blah"

i never say "he whispers" but you can piece those together because all writing is, is describing experience. i don't have to tell you a lot for you to piece things together.. you just need the one or two details to let your mind fill in the rest of the blanks pretty simple, right? that's my approach to everything.

also, my love for math may have something to do with it. i do see "patterns" a connects to b. so c should either support a or expand on b. if neither then it's unnecessary. this is kinda similar to the thoughts going on in my head as i write a sentence.

i will say though, unfortunately some people are just more adept at things. Joe Rogan said it best: some people are just naturally really good at shit. doesn't mean you can't be better. all i have is a talent, but i have yet to finish a book because im lazy and self-destructive. maybe everything i said above is just bullshit and there's no way to actually explain why im good at writing. like I've been given awards since 3rd grade. one of my favorite praises was my first semester of college. it was a class i basically stopped going to.. i went closer towards the end of the semester. while the professor was doing roll my name got called.. i said "here" and i guess it shocked him because maybe that name hadn't been answered for in two weeks. so i said me or whatever and he just raised his voice and said "you write fire shit man" and i think that's probably the only time i got noticed in that class (it's hard for me to go to class so im online now)

anyways.. i say that to say maybe im just good at this shit. and nothing i say matters.
