someone explain the weird gatekeeping on this sub?

I think a lot of it has to do with jealousy. A lot of the younger Gen Z'ers are obsessed with 80s/90s/early 2000s culture & I frequently hear from them about how they're disgruntled about growing up primarily or solely in the digital age. The fact that we remember things from that era that they don't somehow gets under their skin to where they're trying to nullify mid-late 90s babies' early childhood experiences & say that they were "too young" to experience things in the early 2000s in a futile attempt to make us seem closer/more similar to them in terms of experience. Then you see them on another post rambling about how they miss being 3-5; all of a sudden pre-K isn't "too young" when it's their memories they're talking about.
