Someone needs to tell those "state's rights" protestors the truth

Wasnt fought to lower taxes, wasn't fought to get rid of the proclamation line, British freeing slaves wasn't a big deal etc. Your a revisionist. Ever heard of Lord Dunmore's proclamation? Do you know what the proclamation line is? I bet you believe we went to war with Iraq because Bush and crew actually believed they had nuclear weapons. The British were only asking that Americans pay taxes to fund that war that had been fought to protect them from the French, that the colonists has instigated. In fact succession had more of a legal basis, no matter the cause, then breaking away from the Great Britain. Great Britain was also slightly more progressive then the United States as the outlawed slavery far earlier then the United States. If you care that much about the American Revolution being fought for freedom and democracy why then could only White males owning large amounts of property could vote? That wasn't much different then the United Kingdom at the time democratic wise. Yes the colonists had no representation in parliament but they also paid far less taxes then citizens in the islands. But that really comes to the main point. I'm saying the United States fought for less taxes (fact) thr ability to push natives out of lands in the west ( fact) the desire to keep slaves (fact). Your say the Confederacy fought for slavery (fact) only. There is no difference in our arguments and they are 100% true and historical defendable. Its nothing more then a Hun calling a mongol evil. That's my point. The difference is i will freely admit the Confederacy did evil things and fought for them. You only seem to admit to half heartedly to the evils the United States and then justify that by saying that it fought for democracy and was founded on good reasons. When the same could be said for the Confederacy fought for democracy (ie ability of states to leave a voluntary union). A similar attempt to leave the Union was initiated by the Hartford convention during the War of 1812 because of the economic interest of New England, which is in no way condemned today.
