I visited some friends on base at Parris Island years ago. A lot of the guys there were pretty fucking deranged, trigger-happy, dog/wife beaters. If that’s not you, and you still want to make it, you better be willing to look the other way, because I nearly got my shit rocked for saying something when a guy kicked his dog for barking at a squirrel.

The week prior some kid had killed himself by jumping out a 4th story window, allegedly because he was being particularly harassed by the drill sergeants. Not really sure of all the details.

I think it takes a super special kind of individual to go into the military and come out relatively the same as you were before, or better. Most come out damaged regardless of what job you do because, at least the marines, happily foster psychopaths.
