SOS. Possible AU Freshman Questions.

I live on campus currently and am a second year student so I would say that my feedback is fairly accurate.

  1. No. Some students have cars but if you can afford the hefty parking fees and maintenance of a car go for it. But traffic in D.C sucks so it's easier to take the metro, bus or walk.
  2. Like a solid
  3. No one really is spirited. The one time the whole student body was excited was when we made it to the NCAA's last year and got booted first round by Wisconsin...but other than that not really. We're politically active and passionate about tons of stuff but we're not spirited say Baylor or Duke.
  4. Sexual assault made headlines at AU BECAUSE the federal government put AU on the Title IX list meaning that the investigations that the school has conducted has been complained about for not thoroughly doing their job. Also it has made headlines after this year's SG elections where a candidate was accused of unwanted sexual advances on like six people. This isn't to deter you, campus is fairly safe - we're a relatively small school so there's always tons of campus police patrolling especially at night. I can't really say for certain if you're going to be safe - it is like any other place/campus you go to. You will always be at risk of some sort of danger of not.
  5. I'd agree and say AU Dems are the most popular club. But then again there's a billion clubs at school to the point where we have a bee keeping club. Yup. So it depends on what you're interested in.
  6. Like any school, we have professors that range from the "I don't really care I just want tenure" to "I fucking love teaching aww yiss" so it depends on the classes you take and who is teaching it.
  7. I'm relatively happy there...I just wish it isn't as expensive. I hope it is a good investment in my future and I believe it is. Tons of students from this school get internships all the time and we have one of the best career centers if I'm not mistaken. But you have to be passionate in your studies, and really want to take advantage of the fact that we are like..twenty minutes away from downtown D.C (on a good day of traffic).
