Students won't graduate? Lower the bar!

I’m not sure we’ll be rid of the SAT as soon as everyone thinks. UC did go “test blind” (I think, or they are planning to?), but the vast majority of schools are “test optional,” so a lot of kids still submit scores. Also, at many of these “test optional” schools, students still need to take SAT/ACT to qualify for certain types of scholarships. So, if you need the scholarship, it’s not really optional.

I feel like the data from standardized tests can be useful, especially when it comes to looking at basic skills/deficits or performance across populations. But there are a lot of bad tests out there (….Pearson), and they’re often used in ways they shouldn’t be.
