Superman vs Goku

That's not how this sub works. We don't "vote" on a winner. We don't just take someone's word as the deciding factor.

We didn't "'vote' on a winner" or "take someone's word". The argument had been discussed for a very long time and this was the collective result.

The argument is far from over[...]

It will never end if well thought-out arguments are dismissed as opinion instead of refuted.

[...]evidenced by that thread being 9 months old[...]

If no new information arises in the 9-months, the age of the thread is irrelevant. There is SSJC but until RoF releases in English, not many people will be comfortable discussing it.

[...]and SvG still being argued about almost every day.

That's probably because people dismiss arguments as opinions, even on the "definitive thread".

This battle should be brought up whenever someone wants to know who wins, or wants to debate it.

Okay, let's say I want to know who would win in a fight: X or Y. I submit a battle and get some well thought-out responses. Eventually, I find a particularly compelling argument that picks a victor which many people are agreeing with. Now I know that X would win. Because this was the "definitive thread", I can hope this answer is final. Unfortunately, since anyone can bring up the battle whenever they want, more XvY threads show up. There are so many XvY threads that every argument is forgotten or dismissed.

My point is, Superman versus Goku should've been a normal battle to be decided like any other. Instead, people held their own, small arguments and this has lead to a disagreement on something where there shouldn't be a disagreement. To rectify this, a "definitive thread" was created to end the battle. The solutions is pointless, though, if it's dismissed with a casual hand gesture.
