Vegetarian being an afterthought is so tiring.

So, I work at a place that sell food. Fast food, sandwiches, pizza. Pretty much everything is meat based. Currently the only exception is a vegan burger and fries.

Every now and then we get something new veg* on the menue. And here is the sad fact: It don't sell. And to since much of it is fresh and prepared on site it means it ends in the bin. I work nights, the shift that prepare the days food, and I will prepare ten items in the morning, and throw out nine of them when I get back the following night.

That's the cold, hard truth! Veg* food mostly ends in the trash because people don't buy it. Complaining about not having an abundance of choices the one time you choose to eat out is simply not fair. Because chances are that for the one meal you buy that month, thirty have ended in the bin. And that's not neither free nor particularly ethical.

Personally I try to go to dedicated veg* places when eating out. If that's not possible I accept the limited choice, because I know what the restaurant is up against.
